Points – Leap Frog System

The Bullfrog & Leap Frog Point System is a patented Yeomans innovation designed to dramatically extend point life, reduce running costs, and ensure every gram of steel is used for digging. Built around the proven Yeomans knock‑on philosophy, this system is simple, rugged, and exceptionally efficient in the field.
At the heart of the system is the Bullfrog tip holder, into which Leap Frog wearing tips are hammered and exchanged as they wear. No bolts, no complex tools—just a hammer and a smarter way to manage wear.

How the Leap Frog System Works

The system works exactly as the name suggests—the tips “leap frog” over one another as they wear:

  • The Bullfrog is a permanent knock‑on tip holder. (The red part in the photos) – Fig.1
  • A Leap Frog tip (silver part) is hammered into the Bullfrog and becomes the active wearing point – Fig. 2
  • As the Leap Frog wears, it self‑sharpens into an ideal digging profile – Fig. 3
  • When worn down, the used Leap Frog is knocked out and placed in front of a new leap frog allowing the entire wearpart to be utilised – Fig. 4

The entire changeover is done with a hammer—quick, simple, field‑friendly and cost effective.

Leap Frog points have been successfully used in ironstone country and rocky paddocks with large boulders, with documented cases of individual tips travelling over 100 kilometres of cultivation and working up to 15 acres per tip. For highly abrasive soils, the Tadpole is available as an alternative which fits onto the Bullfrog.

It’s a single‑use tip cast from extremely hard, wear‑resistant tool steel with its concentrated mass at the digging face for maximum wear life. When worn, the remaining section can still be fitted into a Leap Frog, ensuring minimal waste. Check it out here.
